Who are we looking for

We have an exciting career opportunity for an Economic and Community Development Manager to join our newly created Community Growth group. The Economic and Community Development Manager will drive and lead the strategic direction for economic, community and social development by playing a pivotal role in the growth of the Waikato district by leading efforts to grow employment and build resilience. You will ensure that all potential opportunities to lift prosperity are optimised through an integrated economic, community and social development programme.

The Economic and Community Development team supports our communities to thrive and build a sense of community identity, wellbeing, prosperity and resilience. As part of this forward-thinking team, you will provide data and information for people and businesses looking to invest, visit or move to the district and lead and support development initiatives to advance community aspirations.

As the ideal candidate, you will bring with you a degree in a related field, such as business, economic development, commerce or marketing. You will also bring along 10 years of experience within a similar role as well as 5 years of leadership experience. To be successful in this role, you would need in-depth commercial knowledge and decision making and project management skills would be vital.
